4620 Wisconsin Ave, NW

Tenleytown DC shared the sad news last week:

“Murasaki Japanese Cuisine and Sushi Bar has closed its doors for good after nearly 14 years in the neighborhood.

It turns out Sushi Story LLC, which owns and operates Murasaki, has been facing financial difficulties for quite some time.”

Updates when we learn who takes over the space.

And a reader on twitter echoes a sentiment I often feel – bring back Morty’s (Krupins)!!! Incidentally, still waiting to see who moves into Morty’s

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!! This is my family’s go-to sushi place in this God-forsaken city!!!!!

  • Bob

That’s sad. I recently discovered this place, and really enjoyed it.

I always liked Murasaki, but every time I went it was varying degrees of empty; I don’t think I ever saw it more than 25% at capacity. Sad, but also not surprising. :(

+1 for bring back Krupins! I miss that place so much.

  • Mars

That’s really sad and surprising. Whenever I went there, the place was pretty crowded. I’ll miss their udon soup and delicious sushi were delicious!

Bummer about Murasaki and Ditto regarding Krupins. But very glad to see Allen Custom Frames is still there (last shop standing). They do excellent work.

  • Nooo

that’s too bad. sushi was always very good. and looks like new development going up next door, which probably would’ve helped business (since that’s kind of a tough retail stretch for walking traffic).

This really sucks. There is nowhere good to eat in this neighborhood and Murasaki was a great option. They were also really great with our kid. I hope something good comes in here. The neighborhood needs it.
