1015 7th Street, NW
“Acclaimed Washington D.C. Chef Eric Ziebold will bring two new restaurants to the city come Winter 2015. Designed by Darryl Carter, Kinship, will be located on the first floor of 1015 Seventh Street NW in an historic building dating back to 1907. In the bi-level space, Métier, a second restaurant, will offer an intimate dining experience with partial views of the kitchen. Both restaurants will commit themselves to offer creative and contemporary American cuisine with a continued dedication to hospitality.
Kinship will be Chef Ziebold’s vision of what the modern American restaurant can be and will offer an à la carte menu celebrating the rich diversity of influences that have come to shape American cuisine. The restaurant will offer 70 seats plus a 15 seat bar with lounge area. Ziebold has described Kinship as a more relaxed version of CityZen, with a new menu.
Kinship and Métier are the restaurants of Chef Eric Ziebold and partner Célia Laurent. From September 2004 to December 2014, Ziebold was the Chef at CityZen in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Throughout that time, the restaurant was awarded the coveted Washington Post Four Stars rating and was the only AAA Five-Diamond-rated restaurant in the city. In addition to being named one of the Best New Chefs in the United States by Food & Wine Magazine in 2005, Ziebold took home the prestigious James Beard Award for “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” in 2008.
Partner Célia Laurent has worked with many celebrated chefs and restaurateurs including Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller and Stephen Starr. Involved in the art of the table from a very young age in her native France, Laurent holds a degree in hotel and restaurant management and has been following her passion for hospitality ever since: caring for guests, helping create memories and mentoring a team is what is important to her.
A Washington D.C. native, Darryl Carter is a leader in the design world, recognized for his restrained, distinguished, and livable environments. Known for seamlessly mixing the modern with the classical, his design feels effortless, current and lasting all at once. Darryl and his team have played a key role in defining the personality of the restaurants from day one, making design elements intimately woven with the experience Eric and Célia wish to provide to their guests.”
