Okay, which restaurants are a legitimately good deal for restaurant week?

    • RKM

I never understood the hype. Most of the time it is more expensive than a normal dinner at the restaurant, and you have less options. I almost never get three courses, so it really just forces you to eat more than you need at a higher price than you would usually spend.

If you don’t want 3 courses, why are you doing rw? There are places that don’t do it or offer the regular menu too. You’re not forced to do anything.

Best value: chef geoffs downtown. Look for places that offer a full menu. That’s just 1 place that immediately comes to mind, and yes, you get normal portions.

Also the monocle was excellent last year.

Fiola may be your best bet

    • JMR

It’s been a couple of years, but the best value I’ve found was Rasika. I believe they offered their full menu, not just a pared down version of the cheapest dishes, AND they had some bottles of wine specially priced for RW.

    • blahblahblah

Rural Society did a really nice RW special when we went.

  • JAB

Sushi Taro generally has their tasting menu for Restaurant. One hell of a deal, if you can get a reservation.

    • cgd

+1 Sushi Taro is an amazing RW deal. The winter RW meal was amazing

  • Drew

Fogo de chao. slightly limited menu, but absolutely incredible quality. Access to the entire salad bar as well

    • with you Drew – fogo is the way to go – i do it every RW w/o fail
