A reader reports:

“The Sizzling Express at 300 M Street SE has closed. There is yellow tape up over the door and signs stating “closed” and “thanks for you patronage.”

It makes me sad. I went there and had a sandwich after my first job interview in DC. It always struggled with cleanliness being shut down several times by the DC Health Inspector. It’s just the Harris Teeter was the last straw for business.”

Oh good. I worked in that area for years and never went to the Sizzling Express even though it was practically the only lunch option. Maybe the Navy Yard people will finally get something better.

There are many places now, that’s why they couldn’t keep up. I had a soft spot for it though.

Oh no! So many memories! “Sizz Ex” as the regulars called it will be missed. It was basically the ONLY food choice before the Navy Yard redevelopment so I went there often when I worked down the street. I was even the “Mayor” on foursquare (is that still a thing?) for like ever from 2010 to 2012. The workers there were super sweet and remembered me each time I came in. Rest in Peace Sizz Ex.

It was always overpriced. It’s going to be a Buffalo a Wild Wings now, right?

The Buffalo Wild Wings is going in the stadium metro station building, not in this space.
