MPD Investigating death of 13 year-old boy (likely) shot around 7pm last night in Brentwood

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating an undetermined death, which occurred in the 1400 block of Downing Street, Northeast.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at approximately 7:21 pm, Fifth District police officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Downing Street, Northeast. Upon their arrival, they located a juvenile male conscious and breathing with an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as a 13 year-old juvenile male of Northeast, Washington, DC

The decedent’s remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A determination of the cause and manner of death is pending the results of an autopsy.

The investigation is continuing.
