American City Diner applies for liquor license in Chevy Chase

5532 Connecticut Avenue, NW

A recent liquor license placard posted out front says:

Inner city diner serving American and diner food, Sidewalk Café Indoor seats 28, Sidewalk Café Outdoor 28–Sidewalk Café Total 56 seats. Total Occupancy Load 99.”

Could be the first time anything in Chevy Chase has been referred to as “Inner city”…

We judged American City Diner back in 2011.

Well this will certainly make watching the VHS version of Indiana Jones on the patio a whole lot more fun.

I’m honestly unaware of another restaurant on earth that’s the source of more cases of foo poisoning, both firsthand and secondhand.

      Food, not foo.

please lets stop being childish! anyone who read the comment knew it was food, no foo.

Are we sure that the correction wasn’t done by Anonymous @11:35? I’ve corrected myself a few times, mainly because I’m a little OCD when it comes to writing. If not, then yeah — the correction is silly.

growing up in nj this place used to remind me of the diners of my youth. the diner used to have good food, was clean and i always enjoyed a dinner there. it was my families place for home style dinners while our 6 week kitchen redo was going on, but that was in the mid 90’s. when i go now i just feel for lack of a better word…yucky!!! why the owner has let things go and make it a bit “cheesy” is beyond me. rarely go anymore and i assume that is why he added movies, and not liquor to lure in patrons.

I think “nearly Maryland” would be a more apt description than inner city.

He needs to take off the cheap addition in the front and put on a more appropriate chrome one. There’s also too much novelty crap (carnival tho machines) on the inside.

I used to love this place but yes, it has gone downhill. Metro 29 is the diner to beat, though in the vein of greasy little diners I still love me some Steak N Egg…
