“Dear PoPville

What Going on at the 3800 Block of 14th? The funeral home is almost gone. Any idea what the plan is?”

Earlier this month Washington Business Journal reported:

“The developer recently applied for permits to convert the building into nine two-bedroom, two-bath condos plus one for-sale commercial unit, said Philip Simon, S2’s managing member.”

S2’s facebook page says:

“We have completed our design phase and applied for permits. This UN-named condo building should be done by the end of the year. Name suggestions?

Guessing these rich developers love to ski based on these options. Yikes… think outside of the box folks!

I’m excited for all that is happening on this stretch of 14th. Between Lyman’s Tavern, this place, the planned condo’s on the lot of the old C&K hotel, and the activity (3rd story addition) in the old 3 for $10 store south of this place on the other side of the street, I see a bright future for these blocks. So much potential with the wide sidewalks and quick walk down to DCUSA and 11th street.

I think it looks nice. Definitely a major improvement over the ugly brick façade of the funeral home.

    They’re all horrible.

who cares about the name…seriously. Obviously, they do since they’re polling folks, but it’s not like someone is going to buy or not buy based on the condo association’s name.

      • Definitely! That’s how I ended up getting a cool little condo in Turdington Towers.

    Burial Ground Condominiums

  • I say forget the ski-related names. Let’s go for Tivoli North Condominiums. I always liked the idea of having a distinctive name for our neighborhood north of Target USA. This would help.
