From the Washington Glass School:

“It’s that time of year! The artists, elves and instructors of the Washington Glass School all gather around the warmth of the kilns and invite everyone to celebrate the season. Saturday December 14th, from Noon til 5, come on in to the studio and check out works by some of the hottest and most thoughtful artwork coming from the DC area.

Also visit the adjacent studios – Alonzo Davis and Alec Simpson’s Blue Door studio, Ellyn Weiss’ studio – lots to see!
Next door Flux Studios will have their open studio and 1st Annual “Cups Invitational” – make a day of it!

  • Does anyone have a guess- timate as to what a custom glass or stained glass piece would cost? A friend just opened a shop and I’m thinking to have a sign with the name made for her window. But are we talking $200? $500? Can’t find any easy estimates online without going through lots of details. I only want to know if it is even something I can consider.

    • @victoria
i’m one of the residents artists at the washington glass school. i work in cast window glass.
if you would like to shoot me an email with the size your thinking of, and any other info you’ve got, i can give you an estimate.
or, if you give me a budget, i can give you a sense of what you could get for that.
