      Say cheeeese!

That was clearly not 1:48 pm

    • The armed robbery was at 1:48pm this is just the suspects using the atm at a later time.

i think the PM is still a typo. neighbors said in a separate conversation that there were cops cars out around that intersection at 2:30 AM.

I might be doing it wrong, but according to the DC Crime Statistics data, the only robbery on that block on that day occurred at (or about) 10:53pm. But that could be a mistake too I guess (or a completely different incident…)

I swear, DC has the dumbest criminals in the world. I hate to give credit to any thief, but the smarter ones know better than to stick their faces into security cameras on ATMs immediately after robbing someone of their debit card.

i’m not sure why people even comment about dumb criminals. trying to educate others criminals about what not to do?

      • Anonymous

Don’t worry, people that stupid are probably incapable of being educated.

I seriously wonder how much it would cost to replace security cameras with new higher resolution cameras. I feel as if price has come down enough to where it has become “affordable”. Not just talking ATMs either.
    .
My followup question would then be, are cameras worth the cost and do they actually help catch perps?

I don’t think the bottom of the entry level ones are worth it. But for a little more, they start getting good enough. Or for a few thousand, you can have a seriously HD system.
For low level crimes, the police may not take it far enough to track the person down, but they sure respond for serious crimes and nab the jerks.

What were the circumstances of the robbery itself? I’m around that area quite a bit and a robbery in the daytime (if it was PM not AM ) does concern me.
