WHAT: Solas Nua Irish Book Day: Another Craic* at St. Patrick’s Day
(*Irish for fun)
Solas Nua, the only organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to contemporary Irish arts, will be giving away for free 10,000 copies of books by contemporary Irish authors at Metro stops around the District. This is Solas Nua’s seventh annual Irish Book Day.
WHEN: Monday, Sept. 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(The half-year mark from St. Patrick’s Day)
WHERE: At the Martin Luther King Memorial Library Adult Literacy Resource Center,
(Verizon Center entrance), Judiciary Square (3rd St. entrance), Dupont Circle, Gallery Place (7th and F St.), Judiciary Square (4th St. and E), and Columbia Heights (14th and Irving N.W.,west side).
WHY: The tradition of offering free books by Irish authors is part of Solas Nua’s mission to give voice in America to contemporary Irish artists and writers. Solas Nua traditionally holds it book day giveaway on St. Patrick’s Day, but this year is holding it exactly six months after St. Patrick’s Day to give people in DC Another Craic at St. Patrick’s Day.
