You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks. I’ll open this thread every morning at 10am.

Hope to see lots of you at the PoPville Bocce tournament today.

Rant: why is there such minimal traffic on the POP weekend posts? Do you guy have a social life or something? Jeeeeez…..

    • Anonymous

*guys. Ugh. Hate typing on my iPad sometimes.

    • blithe

I don’t know about everybody else — but up until a few weeks ago, I didn’t realize that there WERE weekend posts. Maybe on Fridays those of you who would like company on the weekends should tell the rest that you’ll be here to chatter with…..

Yeah, I’m a full-time musician, so I don’t have a desk-job schedule at all. I think a lot of POP folks use the site as a distraction during the week while at work, which is great, but means they’re not at their computer much on the weekend. Im pretty much always tethered to my mobile devices, though…it keeps me amused while waiting for soundchecks or while on tour.

Rant: I have no social life

    Rave: I pretend I do

Rant: People who overuse the color intensity option on their pics

I think one’s social life is often like the discussion that took place here a few days ago about complaining about too much/not enough work: when you feel lonely, it’s depressing and when you’re overcommitted, it’s annoying. We all go through those stages, so don’t feel alone. I’ve grown to really enjoy seeing a movie by myself sometimes, or take myself shopping as a treat (spending the money I’d spend on a bar tab on a Friday night on a new video game instead seems much more rewarding sometimes!).

And piggybacking on your rant, I’m really over the “instagram makes my photos look vintage, so therefore I’m an artistic photographer” technique….

      • KenyonDweller

        I’ve always found Instagram cheesy.

        • When I have to edit a photo (from my ipod touch) I mostly use Snapseed, it gives me more possibilities and not just prefabricated vintage looks.

Rave: Got to see the joint servies drill team demonstration/competition at the Jefferson Memorial on this beautiful day. It was very impressive.

Rant: Air Force won and the Coast Guard got the shaft, once again. It’s hard being a DHS-based military branch.

  • what

Woo-Hoo that’s my pic! And for you haters, I didn’t use instagram or any kind of color filter. When it comes to taking pictures I just point and click with my regular iphone camera, no apps.

    • I like your photo. There are a couple things I would have corrected, but over all I like it.

      • what

thank you Pablo! I’m a complete idiot when it comes to photography, there are too many rules to remember!

RANT: Parents who have their kindergarten-aged boys urinate against trees. We saw this a few weeks back over by the Columbia Heights Educational Campus and yesterday at Meridian Hill Park.

Folks, your kids are not dogs. Take them to a restaurant or – and especially in the case of the park – to a public restroom.

Rant: I left my phone charger at the office.
Rave: I have an excuse to ignore the phone.
RAVE: I am taking tomorrow off, just for fun. It was planned in advance, so it’s just a lucky coincidence that it will be such great weather.
