okay I clicked on the next article headline from the Rapture post, and I totally read the headline as “Photos from PoPville – About to Poop”…

    …interesting first photo btw…

  • djdc

about to pop…the one in the red or the one in the blue?

She does look mad doesn’t she, about to pop a cap in someone’s ass.

      Cool reflections in the bubbles.

I am reminded of a friend in college, Kiche, who loved to tell people about the porno, Ready to Drop. Thanks Kiche.

POP–in your attempt to be cute, you have chosen a title and associated it with a photo of a pregnant woman in a way that is both demeaning and offensive. consider something different next time.

can you explain this to me?

Add me to the list. If this is demeaning and offensive you’re going to have to provide a detailed explanation as to why that is the case.

    • not offended as a woman

I think you are taking this waaaaay too seriously. As a woman who has been “ready to pop” I really don’t see the issue.

    • LisaT

I seriously can’t keep up with the recent-grad-with-her-first-job-at-a-non-profit lingo in this town.

Cannot begin to count the number of times I have heard very pregnant women describe themselves as “ready to pop/explode/burst , etc.”

Now if PoP had included this photo in a series called “About to Drop”, maybe with a photo of a piano being hoisted in the air by a wire, or an egg breaking open over a skillet, that might have crossed the line :-)

Don’t know why but this cracked me up

    • dreas

I am actually in semi-agreement with this comment. She’s not even that pregnant–7 months, 8 max? At least a month or two to go, I’d bet. As someone who got REALLY tired of all the comments made to my face about how HUGE I was when I was pregnant and how I looked like was about to pop, with a relatively long time left to go, I guess it’s just a phrase to which I’m sensitive. People don’t–generally–feel like it’s ok to comment on someone’s body at any other time; it’s–generally–acknowledged as rude to call someone fat or too skinny or whatever. But when you’re pregnant, comments on your body becomes fair game. You’re too big, you’re too small, you’re about to pop–whatever. It gets really tiresome after a while.

I don’t know if I’d have gone so far as to say demeaning and offensive, but I definitely had a negative reaction when I first read the title of the post. Call me sensitive, but it irked me.

      That’s all. As you were.

        everybody’s anal retentive about something.

I found your lecture to be both demeaning and offensive. Please consider keeping your outrageous level of over-sensitivity to yourself next time.

I agree. The proper caption should have been “I want to take her behind the middle school and get her pregnant!”

    Thrill Kill Jill!

  • Anonymous

Those are oak trees in the bubble reflection.

  • Top pop photos is Thrill Kill Jill from the Lucky Devil Sideshow, one of DC’s Local freaks!
and she was performing at the M3 festival last weekend.
and you HAVE to catch this video of her snake charming act (while pregnant!)

the whole sideshow community is psyched to see if the baby has two heads or snake skin. *fingers crossed*
