There is very little info available on this incident at the moment. It took place early Sunday evening late Sunday afternoon. TBD reports that the rider:

“was stabbed in the neck at turnstile. D.C. Fire transported the victim priority one, and a suspect is unknown so far.”

I’m told that Metro Transit Police is investigating the incident. More details as they become available.

Horrible! Any word if this was a targeted attack or just random crime?

  • Kevin

This is what we all need to know. Targeted crimes happen in highly populated areas. Random crimes are the things we must REALLY keep a closer eye on. I pray it’s the former.

NBC4 just briefly mentioned this was believed to be a random attack, as the victim was exiting the faregate.

      • Prince Of Petworth

My sources are suggesting that this was not a random attack.

So either a gang hit or a nutjob. Hmm.

Stabbings at the metro station, gang rape in the High School, weekly teen shooting, Happy Ghoulidays!

It could be a domestic violence event. Those are the most common. Or course, it could be a combo, or a trifecta.

I was coming into the Petworth station at about 4:20pm on Sunday as the guy was being rolled away on a stretcher. Seemed to be okay and alert. I was surprised that when I got down to the platform there was no police presence. Nor when I returned at about 6:00pm, nor when I rode the metro later that evening at 8:30pm. Granted this may have been a targeted attack but can’t we get a little reassurance.

    Any updates on this, PoP?

    • Prince Of Petworth

      Not yet sorry.

  • Ronan

no mention of this on the MPD listserv…

    • Prince Of Petworth

That is because Metro Transit police is in charge of the investigation not MPD.
