At long last Chidogo’s will be opening up on Monday at 1934 14th Street, NW just south of 14th and U. I had the chance to check the space out on Sunday and taste a hot dog. It was my first Chicago style hot dog and I gotta say, it was pretty damn good. You can see their menu here. They even offer a couple of Chicago brewed beers on tap for $5.50 “312 Goose Island Beer and Goose Island Seasonal.”

I though this building was supposed to be torn down for the Utopia project? Guess that isn’t happening anytime soon?

    • Greg

Yeah, the economy has kind of put a stop to those types of projects. I don’t think it’s happening anytime soon, if at all.

    Yeah for 312!

  • Can’t wait to try the Italian Beef sandwich.

  • Jay’O

Yeah, aren’t these stripmall buildings beign torn down? I thought I heard in July that the project was still moving forward? Myabe Chidog doesn’t mind moving in the next 12-18 months?!?

According to anther local blog post from late-July, the Utopia developers were “pretty confident” they would break ground in early 2011. I assume now we are looking at a multi-year delay. If it ever actually happens.

Oh well, at least we have a new hot dog place.

I’m curious to try one of their hot dogs and see how they stack up to DC-3, where I’ve found the most authentic Chicago-style hot dog in D.C. thus far.

    Where’s the beef?

  • sixroute

Nichol, Not bright yellow mustard? Shame!

Just took down a hot dog/beef combo. As a frequenter of Chicago beefs, I can say that this one holds up. The hot peppers were a little too olive-y for my taste. The hot dog was solid, and the fries were surprisingly good.
