“On May 9, 2009 everyone who cares about the future of our team needs to join our march from Lincoln Park to Robert F. Kennedy Stadium. The stadium will open its gates at 2:00 p.m. and shuttle buses will be available in Lot 8 to take marchers to the staging area at Lincoln Park. The buses will run from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A larger than normal tailgate will await us after the march in our tailgate area, United’s game will follow.

A marching permit has been obtained for a massed walk from Lincoln Park to Lot 8.

It’s time to start beating the drums.

Our goal is straightforward, to keep United in the Metro area.”

Park View-Yard Sale Benefit for Washington Central Parks

Neighbors in the Park View and Petworth areas are getting together to
host the Great Emancipation National Park Yard Sale on Saturday, May 9,
starting at 9 a.m. This is a fundraiser for the non-profit group
Washington Central Parks: http://www.thecentralparks.org/

As many of you know, Washington Central Parks has worked hard to
establish a “pearl necklace” of green space in north central D.C. for
hikers, bikers and nature lovers. These green pathways would link
spaces including Fort Totten National Park, the Armed Forces Retirement
Home and Lincoln’s Cottage, and McMillan Park and the reservoir. A
central part of the vision is the creation of Emancipation National
Park on a section of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, which was
previously designated for condos.

Here is what you can do:

l. Attend the Yard Sale! Several yards in the 3600 block of Park Place
Northwest in Washington, D.C., adjacent to the beautiful Soldiers Home
campus. This is the block between Princeton and Quebec Streets.) The
sale will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday May 9 and run through the
afternoon.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
