• Very timely! I just did a somewhat tongue-in-cheek “liveblogging” of tonight’s episode:

  • consumer

its second best. good times will always be no. 1

  • Matt

No. The Wire is. Lost has added layer upon layer without ever solving any mystery. It is a postmodern nightmare. Even this staunch “the wasteland is my sandbox” existentialist experiences profound anomie each time I watch it. Lost is a virus.

  • markus

Wow…clearly PoP has never watched The Wire.

The Wire is the great american novel that authors have been trying to create for decades — except its a TV show. Nothing has come close.

  • Prince Of Petworth

Dang, my bad. I actually do prefer the Wire. It’s just I don’t have cable, so I have to wait ’till it comes out on dvd… I should’ve said on network tv.

  • New2CH

No. Unless you exclude Larry Sanders Show, Freaks and Geeks, and the first four years of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm (after year four Larry David’s well runs dry). Not to mention The Wire …

  • The GREATEST TELEVISION SHOW OF ALL TIME was, and is, and ever shall be:
Divorce Hearing from the late 1950s.

  • dk

Phew, I thought the PoP had lost his love for the Wire.
Nobody tell him what happened this season. He’s in the dark . . . ages.

  • pauper

Thank you, Matt! The wire is without a doubt the best show on earth. Lost SUCKS!!!! You’re too good for that show, PoP.

  • Ed

Best shows ever, Arrested Development and Deadwood. Lost I love, but at this point in the game every time I watch it it’s like having “hate sex.”
I tried watching The Wire first season, just didn’t grab me and there’s too much else out there that I need the Tivo space for.

  • Toby

Don’t have cable? We recently got on demand and literally haven’t been to rent a DVD since. Only trouble it’s so good, I’ve stopped doing my neighborhood walking.

  • Laurie

I don’t know about the greatest ever, but Lost is pretty fricken awesome. I love it.

Lost is great! Even if I have no idea what’s happening. I like feeling stupid.

i thought last night’s lost episode was AWESOME!!!! im a fan from day one and they started to lose me a little last season, but im back! i got a little teary at the end with the phone call….sigh….it was a great episode.

  • Never seen an episode of Lost, but I’ve also never seen a television show match the first three seasons of the West Wing. That might be the finest television series ever produced. Although I quite like the Sopranos as well.

  • Best show, ever, was Homicide: Life on the Street. I would suggest that fans of The Wire go back and watch the complete Homicide DVDs, it’s the original. The theme music alone gives me the chills.

Considering I can’t stop thinking about last night’s episode (and all episodes prior, in fact), I’d say YES!!!

  • GforGood

    Err… NO!

  • Kalia

Best show EVER!!! The amount of research that the writers must do to create a show that incorporates so much history, science, philosophy, theory, and literature all with a plot and characters that MAKE you HAVE to watch the show every week without fail…AMAZING!

  • Anonymous

IMHO, you Lost people are lemmings. It’s completely ridiculous. The writers string you along and you take whatever they give you without question. It’s amazing. And touting the research the writers do? Please. How about the research done for the Wire? That’s incredibly well done and real.

  • Lindsay

Um, that would be The Wire.

  • Anonymous

    Twin Peaks!

  • Six Feet Under.

  • Reggie

I’ve got to put my vote in for The Wire as well.
