Thanks to all who emailed about HipCityVeg’s opening in the former FroZenYo space yesterday. Check out their menu here.

“Who says you have to give up burgers, fries, and shakes to eat healthy? We’re not about that life. That’s why Nicole Marquis founded HipCityVeg in 2012 to bring delicious plant-based food to the world by presenting it in a form that people already loved. She created a fast food-inspired menu with fresh, often local and organic ingredients that helps you treat your body well.”

  • I walked past this place yesterday on my lunch hour and the line was out the door and counting. Must be good food or more vegetarians in D.C. than I thought.

Well, yesterday during lunch (12-2) was free food, so good or not, people will eat it!

  • I’d try this place. My BF loves vegan/vegetarian foods so I’ve learned to like them too.

  • I hope is sticks around longer than Native Foods did. I always thought that Native Foods may have been too ambitious in the DC market.

    • Native Foods went corporate and decidedly south when they expanded to DC. HipCity is better

    • I loved Native Foods. The week I discovered it, I went three times! I was sad to see it leave DC, and I wish it had enjoyed more success here. Will have to try HipCity soon!

  • We ate at HipCity in Philly and it was so good we went twice in one weekend. So excited we are getting one here!

  • Very very cool, cant wait to try it!

This makes me really happy. Can’t wait to try it!

  • My husband just went to the one in Philly and loved it. I didn’t know there was one coming here, I’m so excited to try it myself!

  • I loved this place when I lived in Philly. I think even the omnivores in DC will like it too.

  • Philly is America’s toilet. Their claim to fame is terrible sandwiches and dirt ball sport fans. Let’s hope this can help their image.

  • I went to the preview night before it opened and ate myself silly. It may sound weird, but you just HAVE to try the kale lemonade. I stopped by for a drink after tabling at the Pride Festival Sunday, and the kale lemonade was still as delicious as I remember.

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of seating there, so keep that in mind.
