1351 Wisconsin Avenue NW

Big development new from the Georgetown BID:

“Robert Bell of Georgetown-based Robert Bell Associates announced that plans have been finalized to develop the former Georgetown Theater, at Wisconsin Avenue and O Street. • In the 80s as it fell into ruin it would have midnight screenings of Caligula every Saturday.

love the vintage sign! glad they are reusing it. Kudos for a multi-development in this space.

  • I saw 2 movies there: Rocky Horror Picture Show and Caligula. Don’t remember much about the interior of the theatre. I guess I was just in rapt attention to what was showing on the screen, as might well be imagined.

  • Well that only took like 25 years to get sorted!

  • Oh man – I though the while theater was being restored, but it’s only the marquee, while the rest of the building is being redeveloped into other uses! Too bad – I saw some great movies there, way back when.

  • I use to buy jewelry there back in the day.

  • Bell is taking off that awful fake brick and restoring the mid century stucco, which was how it looked when the neon sign was first installed. Should look great!
