Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 3-4 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“My girl Bocuse, a husky we rescued her from the wilds of Montreal about 4 years ago. She spends her time split between me and her mom in Capitol Hill and Navy Yard.”

“Buster, a cat of leisure, lounging on his balcony in Takoma Park.”

“This is Manny, a 5-year-old mutt earning a new nickname for himself–“Rocket.” Manny is an adopted mutt from D.C. who loves the abundance of “street wings” (chicken wing trash) in D.C., humping pups at dog parks, and sleeping upside down.”

  • Oh man. Loving Buster’s ‘tude!

  • Cat of leisure! What a great title and cute cat.

  • Check out more of Manny at on instagram – @manuelthedog!

  • Bocuse is beautiful. What a great photo!
Buster’s expression is priceless. A “cat of leisure,” indeed!
Manny looks like he is having a blast. What a cutie.

She’s easily the most well-behaved, un-doglike dog I’ve ever owned. Except on the 4th of July, when she flips the F@$% out like all the others.

      • Ah, Bocuse is yours? What a regal-looking dog!
I thought your partner lived with you (when not on assignment abroad). Is Bocuse your dog from a previous relationship and you and the ex-partner have joint custody?

Yep. She has her most of the time (since I’m allergic), but occasionally Bo’ gets to come stay with me when her mom needs to go out of town 🙂

  • Buster’s evil twin lives in an alley in CH and is terribly mean to my elderly and intellectually-impaired cat who just wants to sleep in a sunbeam on the porch.
I’m sure Buster would never do anything like scratch up an old eunuch’s nose, would he?

    Love Manny!

  • To other cat owners: do you let your cats hang out on your balcony? I occasionally carry mine out there but am paranoid to let them out alone, for fear that they would freak out about a bird or something and jump off and be running down the street on everyone’s roofs and then lost forever.

    • Buster is watched like a hawk out on the balcony. He very much loves birds and bugs, and isn’t terribly smart, so we also worry about a flying cat situation. Once he chills out (exhibit B above) then we know we can relax a bit.

      • Maybe I’ll try it out. I don’t think they’d intentionally jump, I just think one cat spaz and there goes the cat. Buster’s cute! I had a buff and white tabby for 10 years, so adorable.

        • Please be careful. I was at Union Vet a few weeks ago, and a cat owner in the waiting room was dealing with some pretty stressful stuff after her cat fell 3 floors off a balcony. Not sure if the cat made it. Very sad and preventable.

I think it depends on the cat. I would totally let Ashlee hang on a balcony because she didn’t care about anything. There is no way in Hell I would let Donna on a balcony that wasn’t screened in, supervised or not. She’s too klutzy and would just fall through the railings while casually walking by.

  • Manny is awesome.

    They are all beautiful!
