dullshick snaps a great photo of the progress at 14th and W St, NW. From YMCA:
“This state-of-the-art mixed-use development in the vibrant U Street Corridor, will honor 160 years of impact while laying the foundation for the community’s future. The new 44,000 sq. ft. facility will feature a 6-lane indoor pool, 3 group exercise studios, a Wi-Fi cafĂ©, a rooftop terrace, a youth development center, a demonstration kitchen and space for our life-changing wellness programs.”
Check out what it looked like in Jan. 2011 here.
And don’t forget a Sweetgreen and a Greek restaurant are coming here too.

Question to residents - thank you in advance. I am considering purchasing a 1st level...
Thank you for this, I had no idea about this type of thing. It also makes me think that...
Disgusting.
It'll take a while. After I moved a block down the road, a friend called me a week before...
*unfriend*
This is fantastic when does it open?
Does anyone know if this building be rentals or condos?
‘will be’
Web site for the building is Jefferson14w (dot) com
It’s rentals not condos, though the latter had been the original plan.
Has anyone heard what’s coming to the retail spaces fronting U Street?
When will these apartments begin the leasing process?
Not bad… Looks pretty good
So far it is looking like won’t open til March at the earliest.
At their open house a couple of weeks ago I signed up for a walk-through that was supposed to take place yesterday. I got an email the day before saying that it was cancelled for the 8th and would be rescheduled tbd.
I can’t believe the overall dearth of information regarding this place in general.
Will the units be like the traditional YMCA short-term rentals? The neighborhood could certainly use something like this.
No, they’re standard luxury apartments.
This is the slowest moving building ever, I’m pretty sure Capitol View up the street broke ground wayyy after this one, and is much closer to being finished.
I submitted an information request form two weeks ago about joining for the gym. Haven’t heard back yet. I’m not holding my breath for any information to be forthcoming soon.
Is it really so hard to say, “Gym memberships will be $79 (or whatever)”?
