Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

Photo of daffodil out of season by PoPville flickr user philliefan99

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks. I’ll open this thread every morning at 10am.

Rant/Revel: I can’t believe how many flowers I saw blooming on Saturday, February 18th!?!?!

Revel: Getting lots of beautiful flower photos in the PoPville flickr pool.

  • Revel: Holiday. Celebrate. Holiday. Celebrate! (sung in my best Madonna impersonation). It’s going to be a great week!

    Revel.2/Rant: Thin Mints!!!

tentative rave: girl scout cookies are supposed to be delivered today.

Rant: I woke up yesterday with a raging head cold.
Revel: Saw the Swedish version of The Girls with the Dragon Tatoo last night, and it kicks butt. I wonder if the English version will measure up.

    • US version was awesome – I have heard that it’s pretty similar to the Swedish version (which, coincidentally, is sitting on top of my DVD player right now), so hopefully you won’t be disappointed!

  • revel: sunny morning! day off today and made yummy goat cheese and chive drop biscuits for breakfast.

rant: Crashed into a cab door while on my bike yesterday. I was in the bike lane and all of a sudden a door on my left opens. I’m ok and glad it wasn’t worse.

Rant: I don’t have today off.

  • Rave: I have thin mints!

Anyone know what happened outside chicha lounge saturday? Walking past around 9:30 pm there were cops all over and blood on the sidewalk.

  • Rant: Work today and fighting off a migraine.
Rave: Awesome birthday weekend with family!
Rave: Killer workout this morning, have something interesting to work out at work, and heading out to the barn tonight (with hopefully very little traffic!)

  • Rant: I went skiing for the second time yesterday and boy, am I sore today. I have a crazy looking bruise on my ankle too.
Rave: I was confident enough to try the green trails though I was screaming, “please don’t crasshhh” the whole way down. I’m pretty proud of myself!

Rant: Had a meeting with 2 clients this morning at 9. By 9:10, their office was still locked. One guy (who had no idea what we were really supposed to talk about) shows up in jeans, while the other primary client neglected to inform everyone that she was still in VA Beach. What a waste of a morning.

Rave: Trader Joe’s butter shortbread cookies. I need to ration myself so I don’t gain 10lbs.

  • rant: My coworker thinks he has a free pass with throwing racial jokes at me because his wife and I are the same race. It gets so annoying because he does this like everyday. He’s not even funny

      Oh, I hate that.

I have the problem of white folks always thinking it’s safe to make rude comments about other races around me. Often when I object I get “There’s none of them here.” This disturbs me. I hate to think that so many people still think that way.

  • Semi-rant: Does anyone know why a big section of 16th street (between R and P) was roped off with crime scene tape about a half hour ago? I saw some more police tape around on 15th as well, blocking off Church between 16th and 15th.

  • Rant: No day off today

Rave: I get paid for today, which I wouldn’t if I were off.

Rave: Awesome weekend with my boyfriend

Rant: Hypocritical, petty people, whom I don’t have a choice but to be around for the next 3 months

  • I stopped by the Three Little Pigs Charcuterie on Georgia Ave yesterday afternoon to see what it looked like. Very nicely done. It looks completely out of place on that strip, though. Is this the “pioneer anchor store” for an eventual takeover of the hair and nail salons, clothing store, and combination soul food/convenience/liquor store on the corner?

That Popeye’s was slammin’ by the way. Doing quite the brisk business.

    • I like the idea of a few more businesses like that coming in, but for a lot of those places to stay as well. Maybe get rid of the carry-out and I’m not a big fan of the gas station on that corner…

  • Rave: A relaxing day off to spend at home with my boyfriend, even if he has homework to do.
Rave: Not being at work, so I can actually post on PoP during the day. 🙂
