If the idea of James Joyce’s Ulysses has ever made you quietly back away from a bookshelf, this is your moment to inch towards the theatre this May.
You’ll See… is an inventive show that takes one of the most famously unread books in the world and turns it into something joyful, visual, and — dare we say — actually understandable.
Originally created for ages 8+, this playful production from Galway-based children’s theater company Branar reimagines Ulysses as a fast-moving performance filled with pop-up worlds, witty storytelling, and music.
And it’s just as perfect for adults. Think of it as the SparkNotes version, but on stage. 800 pages down to 45 minutes.
Critics have called You’ll See… “a great introduction” to the appeal of Ulysses, especially for those who’ve never quite managed to start or finish the book.
Whether you’re bringing a curious child or your own half-curious, half-guilty “I never read Ulysses” self, this show is for you.
And who knows; maybe this show will inspire you to read Ulysses just in time for Bloomsday in June.
P.S. Bring your ticket next door to Henceforth Brewery before or after the show to get BOGO on your first beer and 10% off your final tab.
