Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid recently celebrated our 4 year anniversary and are throwing a party to raise money for our community. 100% of proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to migrant families in the DMV.
A little about us – we were founded in 2022 in response to the Governor of Texas busing asylum seekers to Washington D.C. as part of a cruel publicity stunt. Since 2022 we have offered grocery distribution to food insecure families, perinatal support, resettlement support, pro se clinics, all of which are volunteer organized and led. Our work has since expanded and evolved to respond to the current attacks against the community. We currently operate the city’s 24 hour ICE emergency hotline for people to report sightings and arrests and also to connect families of detainees with resources such as accompaniment to ICE check-ins and court hearings, as well as intensive post-detention care for families. Everything we do is 100% volunteer run so we depend on this fundraiser to help pay for the support we offer.
Our party is Monday the 27th at La Cosecha and features some of DC’s best bartenders creating and serving punch, tickets are $25 and include a special cup, stickers and a drink ticket with more drink tickets available on site. There will be 2 DJs, vendors, even a tarot card reader! I have included the event link and fliers, please let me know if you have any questions!
