Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is pleased to announce its 23rd annual tree lighting ceremony, taking place in the hotel’s Courtyard at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy an evening of festive activities, including holiday classics performed by the award-winning Georgetown Visitation Madrigals. Outdoor heaters will keep guests comfortable as they gather to celebrate, while children can decorate holiday cards and sample seasonal treats. All families can enter a raffle to win prizes.
The highlight of the evening will be the arrival of Santa Claus, introduced by the master of ceremonies and special guests amid magical snow flurries. Following the tree lighting, Santa will greet children and listen to their Christmas wishes beside the hotel’s life-sized Gingerbread House.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. In the spirit of giving, guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for Horton’s Kids, an organization that empowers children in one of Washington, D.C.’s most under-resourced communities. Suggested donations include LEGO sets, basketballs, footballs, dolls, books, games, and arts and crafts supplies
