DUG Urban Growing Course 3:

Advanced Growing Techniques

The DUG (DC Urban Gardener) Network is hosting (4) online courses throughout the 2026 growing season to teach everything needed to successfully grow food in DC. Each course is (8) online classes long, meets virtually on Tuesdays 6-8pm, and will include online lectures and discussions. The timing of most class topics coincide with when the knowledge is needed in the growing season. Each class participant will receive recordings of each class in case you can’t make it to every class. If you can’t make any of the class times there’s a discounted ticket option to just receive the class recordings.

The THIRD DUG Urban Growing course: Advanced Growing Techniques is open for registration.

Course 3 – Advanced Growing Techniques

Every Tuesday 6-8pm between July 21st to September 8th

July 21 – Garden Carpentry

July 28 – Winter Growing and Rooftop Farming

August 4 – Growing Urban Fruit Trees in DC

August 11 – Growing Berries and Building Food Forests

August 18 – Growing Mushrooms in the City

August 25 – Urban Hot Composting

Sept 1 – Urban Cold Composting

Sept 8 – Cooking and Preserving Vegetable Techniques

*It’s okay if participants can’t make every class. Any missed classes can be made up by watching the recording and completing the class assignment. You do not need to take the first two DUG Urban Grower courses to take the third “DUG Urban Growing course: Advance Growing Techniques”. Each course in this series can be a stand alone course. But there are tickets available if you want to watch the recorded classes from course 1 and/or 2 if you want to learn more and if you attend all four courses you can earn the DUG Urban Grower Certification.
