American African English Data Consortium: An Innovative Collective for Protecting and Celebrating Creative Works from the AAE Dialect Speaking Community
Professor Gloria Washington, a computer science faculty member at Howard University and founder of the American African English Data Consortium, explores how innovative data practices can protect and celebrate creative works from the AAE dialect-speaking community. Her talk examines the linguistic and cultural importance of AAE, the challenges of intellectual property and representation, and how technology can support the preservation of marginalized voices in creative fields.
