AirSpace Live! Star Trek at 60

The original series of Star Trek only aired for three seasons (1966 to 1969), but it launched a fanbase that transformed pop culture. Trek fans pioneered letter-writing campaigns, cosplays, and fan conventions as we know them, and they have shaped the franchise and fan culture on Planet Earth for generations.

At the National Air and Space Museum, we’ve been obsessed with Star Trek and its fans since before we even opened to the public in 1976. As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the franchise, we’re excited to host a live taping of the Museum’s podcast, AirSpace, about the history and cultural impact of Trek and its fans.

AirSpace podcast hosts Matt Shindell and Emily Martin will be joined by Museum curator and Trek expert Margaret Weitekamp and a very special guest star: actress and artist Tawny Newsome, known for her work on Star Trek: Lower Decks and Space Force.
