We could tell you how great CarCare To Go is.

We could tell you about how they are transforming the way people care for their cars with free valet pick-up and return from home or work, how they combine the full service of a mechanic with a uniquely transparent and convenient process.

We could even tell you about their$20.23 introductory synthetic oil change offer (Yes, they are THAT confident in their service and no, there is no catch).

But rather than take our word for it, listen to what your neighbors are saying. (Oh, and you can see more reviews here.)

“If you’re reading this review and considering using this service, I whole heartedly recommend it. This is the most convenient way to get your car serviced and they’ll treat you like you’re their only customer. Gladys who came to get my car was prompt and polite. They’ll  keep you informed about the work while they have your car and return it clean and like new. They won’t upsell you and their prices are reasonable. I will be using them again for sure and I’m very pleased to have come across this business.” — John G.

If you’re renovating, remodeling, or redecorating your home, consider deconstruction instead of demolition!

Deconstruction is the careful dismantling of buildings or parts of buildings in a way that enables the materials within to be reused. Harvesting home and building materials through deconstruction allows communities to generate economic, social, and environmental benefits from the project, while saving reusable materials from ending up in the landfill.

In a typical residential renovation project, a sizable portion of the materials (appliances, cabinets, doors, lighting, and more) can be deconstructed for reuse and redistributed to the community. Why pay for disposal to overcrowded landfills when you can give your goods a new life somewhere else? By donating your reusable materials to Community Forklift instead, you can save on dumping fees, keep reusable resources out of landfills, support a green nonprofit, help your local community, and enjoy a year-end tax deduction!

Community Forklift is D.C.’s hometown salvage warehouse. As a nonprofit reuse center for home goods and building supplies, our mission is to lift up local communities by making home repairs affordable, reducing waste, promoting reuse, creating green jobs, and providing essential goods for free to under-resourced residents and community organizations.

Since 2005, we have diverted over $45 million of usable materials from local landfills and converted them into community assets. We sell salvaged new and gently used building materials to the public at below-market prices at our reuse warehouse in Hyattsville, Maryland. We provide free materials to our neighbors in need and to community groups for projects that serve the greater good, impacting almost 600,000 individuals in the D.C. region. Washington City Paper readers have also voted us D.C.’s best green business every year since 2014!

Eddie Helm is a college student studying psychology. They joined the Well-Paid Maids team last September.

“I was over the moon to find out I got the job,” they said. After working in retail, the change was welcomed.

We recently caught up with Eddie to find out how they like working at Well-Paid Maids.

Q: Why Well-Paid Maids?

A: I wanted a change of pace from years of working in retail. I used to joke with my friends all the time that I would make a great maid since I was already a stress cleaner (and still am). Cleaning for me is very relaxing and satisfying and has always been my way of “organizing the disorganization” happening in my life.

Q: How does Well-Paid Maids stand out from your previous work experiences?

A: It was such a 180 from what I had come from, where the business I worked for wanted their employees to work more for less and give everything to their company when they weren’t giving anything back.

At Well-Paid Maids, my managers are always checking in and seeing if I need a break or asking if I can work certain days. It’s incredibly heartwarming, and I wish more companies cared for their employees like Well-Paid Maids does.

Little did the small team at Rimgard know that the future high runners of their lock, initially designed to protect alloys on high end European cars, would be for Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in the US.

“We have a very robust and unique solution to the problem and to remove our locks by force is a considerably louder and more time consuming task than with competitive solutions,” says Fredrick Tallroth, CMO of Rimgard.

One customer found his Rimgard protected Honda wheels with clear traces of attempted theft. He was of course sad to see the dings, but still considered it a win, considering the alternative would have been finding the car on crates.

“We bring peace of mind to our customers and it feels really good,” Fredrick continues.

The problem of wheel theft is frequently reported about in media. In PoPville’s own “Helluva ways…” readers share pictures every other day.

Rimgard wheel locks:

  • Made from a tough aluminum alloy
  • Protects all lug nuts from manipulation
  • Sealed with a high security cylinder lock
  • Locked with a real key
  • Key is always with the owner and never left in the vehicle.
  • Rated 4.75 on Trustpilot
