Featured Property of the Week: 4920 Loughboro Road NW

4920 Loughboro Road Nw

“UNPARALLELED KENT CRAFTSMANSHIP — Abundantly apparent at first sight, no expense nor effort has been spared in creating this custom showplace residence at 4920 Loughboro Road NW. Meticulously manicured landscaping across the broad corner lot, complemented by handsome Jeld-Wen metal-clad casement windows, is but a taste of the quality and craftsmanship you’ll discover inside. Across the flagstone walk, welcoming porch and into the soaring foyer, you may well catch your breath as you savor the Brazilian white oak floors, stunning designer light fixtures, and sophisticated finishes. But be sure to pace yourself — you’ve got nearly 10,000 square feet to explore across four floors, including 7 bedrooms and 8.5 baths. A thoughtful and practical addition, the private elevator will ease your journey. Along the primary floor, a formal living room and separate family room both enjoy front-facing views across this charming Kent/Palisades/Spring Valley neighborhood, arguably the toniest part of town. To the rear, one of two primary ensuite bedrooms features an ample walk-in closet and a peaceful private balcony. The paired double kitchens, however, offer the height of design, function, and quality. The main kitchen, wrapped in delicious Eurostyle Leicht soft-close cabinetry, includes Topos Bergamo elm veneer accents, and features every inspiring ingredient to execute culinary magic. Superb Miele appliances — from oven/range to dishwasher to refrigerator to built-in coffee machine, and so much more — ensure chef-quality magnificence. Combined with the secondary all-season room/outdoor kitchen, this arrangement allows for entertaining on a grand scale. The sizable, low-maintenance Trex deck just beyond guarantees your guests will have plenty of room to spread out.”

December 25th Day of Service (D25) is the DMV’s largest volunteer event on Christmas Day.

Over 350 volunteers come out to pack homemade treats, deliver food packages, sing carols to hospice patients, play BINGO at nursing homes and homeless shelters, do crafts with children transitioning out of homelessness, and serve meals to folks in need. Now, in its 38th year, this is a Christmas tradition for individuals and families alike.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, we invite you to join us for a few hours to do something good and bring some warmth and cheer to people who may not have anyone else to wish them a merry Christmas. All instructions and supplies are provided, along with a volunteer lead to serve as point person for each site.

Choose your project based on location, type of activity, or time of day — we have something for people of all ages and abilities! Volunteer spots go fast but we still have a number of projects that need your help.

Along with sending teams of volunteers out to serve folks in need, we also host a blood drive at our community center, located in Dupont Circle.

Advance registration is required for all D25 volunteer projects, except the blood drive, although making an appointment to donate blood is highly encouraged.

This is a sponsored column by attorneys John Berry and Kimberly Berry of Berry & Berry, PLLC, an employment and labor law firm located in Northern Virginia that specializes in federal employee, security clearance, retirement and private sector employee matters.

By John V. Berry, Esq

Our law firm defends federal employees in investigations and disciplinary actions. Almost all federal employee disciplinary cases start with a misconduct investigation. When a federal employee is subject to an investigation, it is essential to retain a federal employee lawyer as soon as possible.

Issues Commonly Investigated by Agencies

While anything can prompt an investigation by a federal agency, some of the more common issues that trigger an investigation include the following:

  • Absence Without Leave
  • General Misconduct at Work
  • Lack of Candor or Integrity Issues
  • Misuse of a Government Computer/Internet/Fax
  • Misuse of a Government Credit Card, Vehicle or Travel Card
  • Public Complaints
  • Sexual Harassment or Discrimination in the Workplace
  • Time Card/Attendance Issues
  • Off-Duty Criminal, Alcohol / Traffic Conduct
  • Security Violations
  • Insubordination
  • Disrespectful Conduct in the Workplace

How Federal Employee Investigations Usually Start

Federal employee investigations usually start when the individual is called by an investigator to set up an interview. Investigators almost never provide specific information about the nature of an investigation until the federal employee arrives at the meeting.
