Real Estate Fresh Finds is a weekly selection of newly-listed properties in the District, brought to you by Real Living At Home.

Featured Property of the Week: 904 11th Street NE

“Find your heart and soul in the H Street Corridor, in this recently renovated 3 level Victorian row home. Built in the 1908, this home combines the best of old world charm and modern functionality. Upon entering the main level of the home, you are greeted with soaring 9.5′ ceilings with crown molding, a bay window with plantation shutters and gorgeous hardwood floors. The generous kitchen divides the living room and the dining room with custom cabinetry that extends to the ceiling offering plenty of storage. The double French doors lead to the piece de resistance of the home, an outdoor oasis that was custom designed by an award-winning landscape architect.

There is also a working stone fire pit and plenty of space to grill out, entertain or just enjoy morning coffee and truly feel like you are tucked away and secluded in your own world. The master bedroom has vaulted cathedral ceilings and a huge walk-in closet with built in shelves (along with a second separate closet). And finally the fully finished lower level has plenty of space perfect for family movie or game night or a great in-law suite with full size refrigerator and sink. The whole home has surround sound from SONOS so you never miss a podcast and when entertaining, your guest will have music in every room. The owners have lovingly cared for this home for 5 wonderful years and are looking for the next homeowner to love and care for it as they did.”

Dear PoPville readers,

Back in March, despite our industry being designated “essential,” Well-Paid Maids shut down in order to safeguard the health of our employees and our customers. After a long five months, due to employee and customer demand, we are now open once more.

As you know, Well-Paid Maids is committed to being the D.C. area’s most ethical choice for home cleaning. That’s why all of our employees make at least $17/hour and receive a full benefits package, including 22 paid days off, health, dental and vision insurance, and 100% employer-paid commuting. But with the pandemic upon us, it takes more than a living wage and comprehensive benefits for us to reopen in good conscience.

That’s why we are now operating under the most stringent rules of any local cleaning company. Our new rules, which are based on the National Domestic Workers Alliance’s Cleaner Employer Checklist, mandate the following requirements for customers:

  • I will wear a mask when interacting with my cleaner to provide home access
  • Except to provide home access, no one will be present for the duration of the cleaning
  • My cleaner is free to open windows for ventilation as they see fit

It is a great time to buy a home… if you can find one. The D.C., Maryland and Virginia housing market is very competitive.

This is due in large part to historically low interest rates which have allowed well qualified buyers to lock in interest rates as low as 3%. That has flooded the market with more buyers than available homes — inventory is down 4.6% below 2019 levels. When a desirable listing comes up, there is often a lot of competition on it and it sells quickly — 9 days on the market is the median in the DMV. To counter the effects of this trend, our buyer’s agents have gotten creative to find new ways to identify and locate listings for their clients before they hit the open market.
