Aaron Seyedian here, the founder of Well-Paid Maids, and I can’t believe it either — it’s already fall. I hope everyone took some time for themselves this summer, whether that was a fun road trip or a long weekend on the couch.

Well-Paid Maids has been making some time to have a little fun, too. We recently hosted our annual company picnic for our employees. Federalist Pig catered it, and the kids had a blast riding the carousel and mini-train.

Of course, we gave everyone holiday pay, too.

We made a few big company announcements that day as well. Perhaps most exciting is that Dasha Johnson, ones of our cleaners, was recently promoted to operations manager. She’s the second cleaner who’s been promoted to a management position, and we hope we can do more of that as we continue to grow.

There was another big announcement: The Well-Paid Maids staff is now fully vaccinated! You can read more about our vaccine initiative here.

Now that everyone is (hopefully) rested and ready to dive into work and school routines this fall, it’s the perfect time to get your home professionally cleaned — and you can feel good knowing our staff is taken care of with good pay, good benefits and, of course, some good barbecue!

You can book your cleaning online in less than a minute. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Take a look at some of our favorites below and to see the full Open House List, click here.

Note: This photo was taken in pre-pandemic times. All cleaners wear masks inside your home.

Well-Paid Maids is ahead of the curve. Not only is this cleaning company leading the charge by paying their employees (yes, employees — not contractors) a living wage of at least $20 an hour, but they also implemented a company-wide vaccine mandate in mid-August, well before the Biden administration’s decision.

By Oct. 1, Well-Paid Maid’s entire staff will be fully vaccinated.

The mandate came after months of offering employees voluntary incentives to get their vaccines, including emergency paid leave to get their vaccine and recover from side effects. Additionally, employees could get a $100 cash bonus as well as company-paid transportation to and from vaccine sites.

Featured Property of the Week: 654 6th Street NE

“Standing stately on Capitol Hill, this historic beauty offers not only the perfect location but also a nod to the classic D.C. vibe along with attributes to make life easy. For starters — the lower-level, one-bedroom unit is shockingly large and comes equipped with a C of O — meaning you can rent it out. The upstairs unit features soaring ceilings, sunny reading nook, custom built-ins, hardwood floors, a wood-burning fireplace (just in time for fall!), and beautiful exposed brick. Both rooms upstairs are sizable, to say the least, with a WOW factor from a primary bedroom with tons of space, light and closets. The lower-level unit is self-contained with its own garden-level kitchen overlooking a park, wood-burning fireplace and efficient layout. Outdoor space in the front and back (accessible by both units) is a huge plus to enjoy the weather. This home comes with solar panels (fully paid for), so not only is your electricity cheap, but the panels will also generate additional cash flow for you as well (estimated $2k-$3k per year); along with some peace of mind since the roof and exterior paint have been redone within the last two years. Head north and you have access to everything H St has to offer, including Whole Foods, Solid State Books, Ethiopic, Cane, & Le Grenier. Go even a little farther north, and you’ll find yourself at Union Market — just a .5 mile walk! Head south to stroll around Stanton Park, Schneider’s, Bistro Cacao, & Cafe Berlin. Go a little west and you’ll find yourself at Union Station with shops and access to the metro for travel within D.C., and to Amtrak and other regional trains to take you to wherever your heart desires.”

Did you know Car Free Day is an international event? Yup — mark your calendars for September 22.

Car Free Day is exactly what it sounds like — a day people are encouraged to travel without driving alone in cars. Here in the DMV, Commuter Connections, the regional network of transportation organizations coordinated by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, is hosting the annual event.

Here’s how it works: When you take the free pledge to go car-free (or car-lite, which would include carpooling or vanpooling), on Wednesday, September 22, you’ll get a $30 promo code to Nift (Neighborhood Gift) to spend at local businesses, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a bunch of prizes, including a Samsung tablet, gift cards, transit passes and more.
