Well-Paid Maids, a living-wage home cleaning company, continues its fight for the region’s workforce by stepping up its advocacy for all workers.

In late October, Operations Manager Dasha Johnson was a featured speaker at a Progressive Maryland town hall with U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), imploring the senator to fight for the jeopardized childcare and paid leave elements in the Build Back Better Bill. You can see Dasha’s testimony at the 1:38:30 mark.

Later in November, Well-Paid Maids owner Aaron Seyedian will testify in Howard County to support a minimum wage increase before the county council.

Seyedian knows a bit about the minimum wage and living-wage. He founded the company in 2017 by offering workers $16 an hour — it’s now $20 — and a full slate of benefits, nearly unheard of in the house cleaning industry where the maids are often contractors. Well-Paid Maids staff are employees and as such receive health, dental and vision care; 22 paid days off each year; and 100 percent reimbursed commuting costs.
