Bonus points if you can identify the musicians depicted in the mural.

Has anyone checked out the free Jazz shows at Sala Thai located on U St. between 13th and 14th? Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Petworth’s very own Ra Ra Rasputin will playing their very own mini Green Line tour:

*Saturday the 22nd @ Velvet Lounge 9PM
*Sunday the 23rd @ WMUC Studio, University of Maryland-College Park. 6PM
*Thursday 27th @ Wonderland. 8PM

I’m going to definitely try and catch them at Wonderland this time.

It is my pleasure to introduce a new video feature on PoP. These videos will feature life around Petworth, Columbia Heights, and the 14th Street Corridor. This feature is the brain child of Petworth resident, Joe Mills. This week’s video features Grant Circle and the running time is about 1 minute and 20 seconds. Please comment to let us know if you would like to see more of these videos.

If you have any ideas or would like to contribute to PoP in any way don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. And remember, I’m still looking for an intern!

Oh yeah, and since I’m asking for things, if anyone lives in a rowhouse with one of those tiled vestibules I’d love to get a photo of that. Many thanks and enjoy the video.

I just got finished interviewing Muriel Bowser at Domku please stay tuned for the full report tomorrow. But I just had to add that Domku not only has terrific borsht but it arguably has the greatest music selection of any restaurant I’ve ever been too. They play an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, indie, and world music which I gotta say is absolutely fantastic. So, I’m happy to report that the place is packed and the music is great. If anyone went to Wonderland’s brunch please write in and let us know how it was. While Domku plays the greatest music I’d say Wonderland has the greatest jukebox…

So here is an interesting dilemma I’m facing: I don’t know if I should put the Nouvelle Vague disk on the ipod. This is a very new problem. I am a huge fan of the ipod and it makes the metro ride a breeze but I’m finding that I’m burning out quickly to new music. When I used to buy a new cd, the freshness would last for months. Now with the convenience of the ipod I find that I lose the freshness within the week unless it is one my absolute favorites like Dylan or the Drive by Truckers. With the ipod I either listen too frequently or I am starting to get overwhelmed by choice. Anyone else facing this issues?

It seems as though everybody mixes music reviews into their community blogs so what the hell, I’ll do the same. I may be a little behind the curve but I just got the old Nouvelle Vague CD and it is phenomenal, ditto Neko Case. Has anyone listened to the new Nouvelle Vague CD?
