Alright, I’m ready to take another for the team. Yes, I don’t know who this is. I suspect I should be embarrassed. But I’m trying to learn. So I know there are some kind souls out there who will enlighten me.

Not only is the mural itself super cool but it’s awesome how it’s on the side of a rowhouse. Nicely done.

Here’s another great mural that has recently gone up. It is located off 9th Street near Shiloh Church. I’m willing to take one for the team and expose my weak Long Island public school upbringing – who are the two gentlemen featured? I assume the guy on the right is “Paul Laurence Dunbar, the first African-American to gain national eminence as a poet”?
Closeups after the jump. (more…)

Every since I saw the sketch a while back at Columbia Heights Coffee I’ve been looking all over for the finished mural. Finally found it this weekend on Florida Avenue.

I love the contrast of the modern day fellow reading the newspaper versus the proper old school folks to the right.

I first wrote about this back in June but it seems there are still some finishing touches going on. It’s also cool to note the mosaic on the border of the mural. I’ve been getting many, many emails about this mural so just wanted to show an update. Of course, I’ll post the finished project as soon as it’s completed. Thanks for all the emails and continue to let me know about other murals or other interesting sites around town.

Anyone recognize where this one is from? I got to say it – it is pretty dope sky…

I had to get this one up for posterity. I suspect it won’t be around for too much longer. Anyone recognize where this is from?

This is a classic on 14th Street. Could use a bit of a touch up but I hope it never gets replaced.
