Holy awesome. This is a very nice door but obviously there is another feature here that freaking rocks. Check out a close up of the face after the jump. (more…)

Ed note: Technically Logan Circle and U Street fall within the boundaries of Shaw but for question number five let us assume that they are distinct separate neighborhoods within Shaw.

Surely you’ve heard of it. Located at 11th and N. I thought all groceries stores had to be Giant, Whole Foods or Safeway? I wonder how long independent supermarkets will last…or will they go the way of the independent book store? Does it even matter?

Many probably recognize this awesome mural located next to the Warehouse Theater on 7th Street. I imagine it’s not going to be up forever given the development in the area, so I thought it was important to capture it for posterity. I love the “Free to the city love J” dedication. Check out another neat feature after the jump. (more…)

This Laundry has been converted to a home and it is super cool that they have kept the signage. Check out more details after the jump including a dope wheelbarrow plant holder. (more…)

Not sure what the Buffalo Bills have to do with this though… Just kidding I know it is the Howard University Bison, but it does look an awful lot like the Buffalo Bills, I’m just saying.

Now since I recently turned 33 I haven’t been going to playgrounds as frequently as I have last year. My knees are starting to hurt a bit. And I get really funny looks. But I stumbled upon a dope sky playground on Westminster Street just off of 9th Street, NW. If you are under 33 or have little children it is imperative that you check it out. It is not a huge playground but it is surrounded by beauty. There is this phenomenal mural and other pieces of art scattered throughout. Check out more photos after the jump. (more…)

I’m really digging these Victorian style homes. This one is located at 9th and T I think. How many condos do you think they can fit in here?

Someone mentioned this restaurant in a previous post’s comments section. Apparently it is owned and operated by Ethiopians and there was some speculation that perhaps Italy’s occupation of Ethiopia may have been an influence. Anyone else know the story behind this restaurant or have eaten here? Most importantly, how’s the food?
