“Construction hasn’t even finished on the new medians in New Hampshire Avenue, and already there is a new church parking scene – a line of cars taking up the inner lanes on each side of the median. I’m not sure your opinion, but I like this solution. While not as traffic-flowing as parking on a flat median, by taking up one lane in each direction, I hope it slows down the speed demons who fly along New Hampshire. Next, can we have warning cones along these cars as well, to slow traffic even more? I don’t want a parishioner hit trying to get to their car.”

This home is located at 1364 Taylor Street, NW:
The flier says:
“Handsome and spacious bay fronted townhome on lovely block in Columbia Heights, easy stroll to Petworth Metro. Long term conscientious owner has taken excellent care of this vintage gem. New maple/granite/ss kitchen w/ brkfast bar, light-filled dining rm open to gracious living rm, ideal for entertaining. Top floor “loft” w/ brick wall perfect for yoga/meditation room.”

I think this is a pretty cool property. Lots of cool details. I’m wondering what you think of wood floors in the kitchen? What do you think of the house in general? $525,000 sound reasonable?

I think someone mentioned this yesterday, so here is the community garden located at the corner of Taylor and 14th Streets, NW. It is called Twin Oaks and is currently all filled up. Though chatting with one of the owners of a plot, I learned that there is waiting list available. He mentioned the National Parks service but I couldn’t find a waiting list for it. Anyone know how to get on the waiting list?

This is my gutter. The weed grew up and around it in two days. I just find it amazing how fast weeds can grow and how they are able to wrap around obstacles in their way. While I think it is terribly annoying, I also think it’s pretty extraordinary.

Looks just like a regular vegetable garden, yeah. It’s actually right in front of a body shop:

Wild.

Thanks again to Wayan Vota for sending. He writes, “New Hampshire Avenue is getting raised medians with trees from Grant Circle to Georgia Avenue.”
It’s so awesome to see the things we’ve been hearing about for so long actually become a reality.
Remember the discussion we had about Church parking?

Thanks to Wayan Vota for sending. He writes, “I love how these new shelters look – so cool and modern. Now we can hope for a real-time schedule display.”
I say Petworth will be as big as San Fransisco before you know it!

A reader writes:
“I walked by Beveragemania this morning and there was a foreclosure notice (dated May 6, 2009) on the door. It said the place had been foreclosed on in October. I’m sad to see the place go as everyone there was always friendly and chatty. What do you know? Did they simply lose their footing after the damage to their New Orleans properties last fall?”
Oh this is sad news. I’ve emailed the owners and hopefully will find out the full story.
