In October I wondered what happened to Cleveland Park after spotting a Halloween store where Blockbuster once stood. Things started to look up in November when I saw a running store and frozen yogurt spot open up. Well, the old Blockbuster spot looks like its found a permanent replacement – a wine shop. According to the license it will be called Weygandt Wines located at 3519 Connecticut Ave.

This Cleveland Park house is gigantic and a stone’s throw from Connecticut Ave. It also has one of the dopest porches in town.

Dino is located at 3435 Connecticut Avenue NW. I’ve gone a couple of times for restaurant week and have loved it every time. If memory serves they also have a really good wine list. Any other fans out there? I’m also curious – does anyone know the deal with Sabores next door?

Here was our discussion on best Italian Restaurants in the city.

This is one of my all time favorites. The odd thing about this house, that you could never tell from the photo, is that it is practically spitting distance from busy Wisconsin Avenue. Looks like it could be in the middle of Vermont somewhere.

I’ve been super curious about Palena, located at 3529 Connecticut Avenue, N.W. The menu looks mighty tempting. I’ve always thought it was odd that a presumably high end restaurant sat right next to a gas station. But I love Italian food so I’m dying to know – thumbs up or down?

River House is located at 3706 Macomb Street, NW. Their Web site says:

“Partnering with dealers and warehouses in Belgium and Holland We import vintage furniture from many countries in Europe.
These country and farm pieces are selected in the countryside then taken to the warehouse/studio where they are prepared for export to Washington.”

There are super cool pieces here.

The goods aren’t cheap but they are wicked fresh. More photos after the jump including a vintage Vermont brass pub tap. (more…)

Holy cow – another wine bar! Enology is located at 3238 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Seems like this spot keeps turning over. So has anyone checked this place out yet? How does it compare to the other wine bars in town?
