Garden of the Day

Well this pond is located in the same yard. Beautiful. If you look closely you can see a Koi fish swimming around. That’s all I really want in life – a pond with koi fish swimming around. Oh, and a vestibule. I really want a vestibule too.

I took this picture last week and I can’t find my notes but I think it was just off of 13th near R St. maybe? At any rate it is a super cool garden. I like the entry way, I’m sure there must be a name for that. A trellis? The garden just gives off a very peaceful feeling.

More gardens to come in Spring…

This is from a phenomenal home on 13th Street. I think water features and fountains are among the coolest lawn amenities around. But my question is: If you want to put Koi or goldfish in them will they survive or are you just providing dinner for the local wildlife?

Thanks to a reader for telling me about another good example of flowers planted in cinder blocks (or whatever the hell they’re called). Definitely looks pretty good.

you can plant flowers in cinder blocks. This particular house has them lined up on both sides and it looks fantastic. Have you seen any innovative plantings? I think I’ve also seen some in some old tires.

It is amazing what a few flowers can do. These are basically identical rowhouses but the one with the flowers makes the whole block look better…

They are definitely going with the wild flower theme here. I was taken by the statue of Zeus and a maiden (the maiden is covered by flowers but she is quite alluring.)

Shepherd and 4th Street represents this week. This is a jaw dropping garden. This garden is gigantic and the variety is fantastic.
