“First, I hear there is a program by which the District will give you a tree to plant, provided you agree to water and care for it, for two years. Do you know how to apply to this program?

Second, I caught part of a show on the radio in which I think the topic was city gardens, and how residents can rent plots to raise vegetables, etc. Is this true? What is the program?”

Anyone have some info on any of these programs?

There is one section of that apartment building on Quincy and New Hampshire that has the dopest garden every year.

I’m starting to see lots of interesting tree boxes but I was surprised to find one with a vegetable garden. I think it’s pretty cool but I hope to hell they wash the lettuce with bleach or something because dogs do love those tree boxes too, right?

The picture hardly does it justice. The person who created this one is a true artist.

Notice the flower urn in the upper right hand corner. You know they’re starting to grow on you…

I swears this isn’t turning into a garden blog but this photo was too cool not to share. I normally don’t like the white rocks, but this is pretty damn cool. What do you think of the design?

I liked this shot of a local resident planting her first vegetable garden. So what are the tips to a successful vegetable garden? Last year mine yielded a half of a tomato… I think sunlight is the most important, right? With out super solid sun you are doomed. Are there any vegetables that can grow in the shade?

This is another one that is more flowers of the day than garden of the day but I do enjoy saying garden of the day. Anyway, these are awesome. What kind are they? Incidentally, many of the rose bushes around town actually also smell fantastic. A neighbor alerted me to that fact. So I’ll pass on the info – next time you see a rose bush take a second and stop to smell the roses.
