Now that I’ve featured close to 500 doors it might be time to call a favorite. I have to say every time I pass this one (in Shaw) it stops me dead in my tracks.

I love when readers find cool ones:

“This is from the apartment/house on the corner of 16th & irving. I’m intrigued by this place every time i go past it.

Not sure if you can tell, but the door knocker is a double music note. You can see the top of the door on the side of the building in the “best place for morning coffee” shot. The windows only in the back end, and the tiny window under them are pretty interesting to me also!”

I really liked the numbers on this door (from Columbia Heights) it gives me a bit of a 60s vibe. And as someone mentioned in the comments yesterday – Washington in the 60s on PBS was a phenomenal program. You should definitely catch a rerun if it keeps airing!

I’m giving this one special attention because it’s on a house that is getting renovated and I was psyched to see they salvaged the door. It is located on R St. between 13th and 14th, NW. This is the door that used to have the mailbox that was really sad looking that said ‘House is Occupied’.

Here’s another example of a sorta vestibule that I think looks a bit odd because it is underneath a porch.

Here’s another interesting gate that has an unusual sculpture.

While this is a very cool door (to a garden) I was really taken with the sculpture above it. I couldn’t stop staring at it, very powerful.

This is one of the nicer outer/security gates I’ve seen in a while.

The windows and carving around them are pretty fresh.
