“Dear PoPville,

On Wednesday evening after the shooting, Marine 1 probably buzzed my building in Woodley Park like 20 times and now they’re doing it again (Friday night), just an east-west route and then turning around and doing it again.

I can tell that they get as far east at Columbia Heights, then they must turn around somewhere. (more…)

Speaking of Cannabis Operations… Three more, two excellently named ones, closed by MPD and ABCA:

“Last week, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) shut down three businesses for illegal cannabis sales.

The Closure Orders were executed at Puff Puff Pass, Smoke Shop Inc, and YouGrowGurl, all unlicensed retailers, due to activities that posed an imminent danger to public health and safety.

This marks the second closure for YouGroGurl, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m genuinely curious if anyone has insight into this. Over the past six months, I’ve submitted approximately two to three 311 requests regarding various issues( potholes, missed trash collection) most recently a recurring road hazard near a school.

Today, I submitted a new request concerning a street obstruction that has persisted since October 20th. The issue involves cone barriers placed by a production company in the middle of a school zone, significantly limiting vehicle access and creating unsafe conditions for students. Parents and school staff have repeatedly moved the cones to restore safe passage, only for the production crew to reposition them.

What’s particularly concerning is a pattern I’ve noticed with recent 311 submissions: they’re marked as “closed” or “resolved” within minutes; (more…)
