“Dear PoPville,

To the man standing on the corner of 11th and Rhode Island NW on Tuesday around 6 PM: I read the Empire of Pain book you just checked out from the Shaw library! I was riding a Lime scooter and (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We crossed paths just before 7 p.m. on 7/16 in Adams Morgan, near Tryst. You — a gorgeous man with dark features and a faint scar on your neck — stopped me, a tall woman with glasses and blonde-streaked knotless braids, to compliment my hair. Then you told me I was beautiful.

I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I wish I’d turned around and given you my number. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We danced early in the night at the Baila Social Dance at La Cosecha on 7/10. You had dark hair, and were wearing a black sundress with a red and green floral pattern on it.

I was the dark-haired guy with a beard, wearing a brown button-through sweater polo and cream shorts.

You were forgiving of the fact that I was a complete beginner, and said that it was okay since you were new to it yourself. You joked about how we were the smart ones dressing for how hot it was on the dancefloor. While we were dancing, you said your name was ‘Raj.’ I didn’t think it was the right time to ask for your number, but I should have said that I wanted to keep dancing with you. I was hoping to be able to find you later in the night, however by the time I worked up the nerve you had already left.

If you see this, I’d love to grab a coffee or a drink sometime.

J.”

“Dear PoPville,

Me: ‘USA beat everybody’ t-shirt wearing gal with blue hair and big black glasses.

You: guy rocking the latest navy blue US soccer jersey with a baseball cap and a megawatt smile.

Us: locked eyes outside section 135 at Audi. Celebrated USWNT domination, loved on Girma’s performance and missed Dunn together. Also, we completely ignored my friends.

The connection? Instant. The vibes? Incredible. The hug? Surprising, but excellent. (more…)
