In honor of artomatic opening tonight, here’s a shot of a work by our very own multi-talented hipchickindc.

From an email:

“The building is 55 M St. SE right atop the Navy Yard Metro Station on the green line. This year’s Artomatic has over 1,000 artists participating and probably nearly that many musicians and poets. Artomatic will run from May 29th through July 5th. The hours are: Fridays and Saturdays, 12 noon – 1 a.m.; Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 12 noon – 10 p.m; closed Mondays and Tuesdays.”

I found this one at the jazz in the sculpture garden event. It was from a tourist visiting DC who got it done in Thailand. I’m fairly certain he and his friends thought I was insane… Cool tattoo though.

Jazz in the Sculpture Garden, located at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, is a blast. When the weather is warm as it was last Friday it is hard to find a better way to spend your early evening. The concerts go from 5:00PM to 8:30PM and you can find the full schedule here. I hadn’t been for a while and forgot how fun it was. It’s a great spot for a picnic or just to put your feet in the fountain.

And don’t forget the cool sculptures:

This one has a pretty cool back story. The owner tells me, it was inspired by some stained glass seen in an old church up in New Hampshire. Very cool.

This is truly an insane one. In a good way. The reader writes:

“I found it in Dupont on, I believe, Connecticut right in front of the Johnny Rocket burger place.”
