I’ve gone on record as not being a huge fan of glass buildings but I found this one to be quite unique. This is located at 20th and K Streets, NW (and there are tons of glass buildings going up on K Street). What makes this one interesting, to me, is the angled piece of glass in the front. I know it’s not completely finished yet but would you give it a thumbs up or down?

I really dig these stand-alone houses that are sandwiched between rowhomes. This one has a particularly dope third floor balcony.

Even though there is a curb cut I think this building looks super cool. It’s located in the Dupont/Kalorama area. I really dig the lines of this building. It sorta curves on the sides. What do you think – thumbs up or down?

What a cool corner rowhouse. The window up top sealed it for me.

Here’s a beauty from Florida Ave near the Hinkley Hilton. It’s got some great details. I was particularly psyched about the dope porch light given my new infatuation… Close ups after the jump. (more…)

This is a very cool building at 1333 14th Street, NW (not far too far south from P Street). Looks like it might have been a firehouse or some other municipal building back in the day.  I was able to ask one of the construction workers what the building would become. He said it is going to become office space likely with a tenant that does IT services or something like that.

For the record I actually fall into the category of those who likes painted brick particularly when vibrant colors are used. However I found the color choice for this house a bit jarring. So this house had me scratching my head especially because it’s a two family house. So I was wondering if they both agreed to paint it this color or maybe one family lost a bet…

Speaking of two family homes, a friend of mine sent me a phenomenal photo essay from Slate which shows a series of “paired houses” where one is abandoned.

Dang, not the best picture but a pretty unusual house in Adams Morgan. It also has a very unusual chimney. Another one with a window in it.

Wow, I think this one came out really well. Interestingly the brick has no windows but the addition does. Can someone explain to me again why the side that is brick doesn’t have any windows? I think it is safe to say the pop ups that are recessed are the best. Plus they get a nice little deck out of the recess. I also think the wood is pretty cool as well. Do you think the wood comliments the brick? Overall, what do you think – thumbs up or down?

Phenomenal. I’ve been to the Wilson Bldg a few times and have never noticed this door before. The reader writes:

“Don’t know if you’ve featured these doors yet, but they are on one of the side (13th St) entrances to the Wilson bldg. I don’t know if you can tell, but they are round.”
