I think this pop up looks pretty good. What do you think?

This isn’t a good deal or not feature but for the curious this house is for sale located at 2906 18th Street. Details can be found here.

But don’t forget to tell me what you think of the third floor…

Of course it’s the porthole window that got my attention.

This is perhaps the freshest porch furniture I’ve seen in a while. Borderline too nice for the porch, yeah? All you need is the Sunday newspaper and some beverages and you’re in business.

We judged this building back in May when my old camera was a bit messed up. I took a better picture this weekend. And there is tons of cool info and photos of this home in the Washington Post Magazine’s Home & Design Issue.

From the article:

“Just before dusk on a sharp bend in Florida Avenue NW, a very pregnant Alice Speck smashed a bottle of champagne across the prow of her new house. Husband Jeff Speck, who designed the startling triangular dwelling, stood close enough to revel in the fizz. After two years of dreaming, sleuthing and coaxing to acquire a tiny flatiron plot at 10th Street, and 15 months of exacting construction to build on it, the couple was finally able to call their brick-and-glass aerie home.”

I thought it was interesting how one side has tons of windows and the other side is vinyl with no windows. Do you think this is because at some point the windowless side was attached to a building?

I thought these were an interesting pair of buildings. What do you think of the third floor extension on the building to the right? Do you think the buildings compliment each other? Overall thumbs up or down?  I kind of like the stone on the building to the left…

Per a reader’s request I’m opening up a thread on porch theft. Now, this is really bizarre and just happened to me Wednesday night. I believe I must be living in some alternative universe. I swear the following is true. When I came home from work, the above photographed plant was on my porch. There was no plant there when I left for work. I have no idea who gave me this plant. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I guess it sort of balances out the universe a bit. Share similar or less pleasant experiences after the jump.

Quite an unusual one, unusually wide for a row home and, I’d imagine quite old. Notice how the door seems to be a bit off center. I dig it.
