Not a bad porch light either.

Not a bad porch light either.

But now that I look at the picture closer I really like that decoration over the door on the house to the left. But, yeah, this is still a good house.

I did a double take when I saw this sign at the Rock Creek Church Cemetery. Apparently it is a commercial lease. The building is wicked cool and all but, um, it’s in a cemetery. That would be an odd spot for your new office space, yeah?

Yesterday’s post about where to lay out got me thinking about Rock Creek Park. Well, not the park but the tributary that comes out on Arkansas. I always see folks playing soccer there and barbecuing when the weather is nice. So is this a good spot to lay out? Read a book? Has anyone taken advantage of this great open green space. Looks like an awesome spot to toss the Frisbee.

I don’t mean for this to be a controversial post but I’m seriously curious. When a neighborhood has fancy condos and retail emerging what happens to the old school apartment buildings? We’ve seen property values sky rocket for various reasons and they have still remained rather high. So in this environment do these “non luxury” apartment building raise their rent? Do you begin to see new folks with higher incomes moving in? Is there resentment? Has anyone thought about this?
Disclaimer:

Love the lemon. You have to love the lemon. And I proudly do. El Limeno is located on the 200 block of Upshur right across from the Hitching Post and near the Old Soldier’s Home main gate. Now, I’ve written about El Limeno in the past. Particularly noting it’s delicious three taco meal of beef, shrimp and chicken for $10. You can not beat that. Additionally, the owners are super nice and the entire staff is among the most attentive I have ever encountered. So why is it always empty? It breaks my heart to see such good people and good food and good music and good decorations…go unappreciated. This is a gift that is being taken for granted. It doesn’t look like much from the outside and I guess it’s a bit of a walk from the metro but if you live anywhere in a two mile radius you must visit! You will not be disappointed. You’ve got to try it and you too will love the lemon.

For real, what does this mean? Do the sanitation workers bring it back to the house? I’ve never seen one of these before. Of course I don’t really look at garbage cans all that often…

Return of garden of the day. Inhale deeply. Many more to come. (Ed. note: if you’ve got a dope garden or are just very proud of your garden feel free to nominate yourself and shoot me an email.)

If you plant a nice flowering bush next to the chain link fence it’s not so bad. But wait a second, then why do you need the fence? Does it provide support?
