A commenter suggested that I spruce up the PoP frog logo a bit. I think it’s a great idea. I can’t offer much to the winner except for eternal gratitude and bragging rights. All entries will receive a PoP t-shirt. So the only parameters are that the logo be a frog, it has some sort of crown and the flag of DC in the logo somehow. Email me your entries directly at [email protected]. Let’s see if we have some creative readers out there. I’ll post the entries and we can have an informal vote on the winner. Good luck and thanks in advance.

These guys were doing some serious planting. The funny thing from this encounter was when I told the guy not pictured that I was going to post this on the Prince of Petworth, he goes “oh yeah, my ex-girlfriend used to wear a PoP t-shirt around all the time.” Hilarious.

I like how folks beautify the tree boxes in their front yards. You see some great porcelain ones from time to time. This is the first metal one I’ve encountered. Truth be told I think I prefer the porcelain ones better. But of course I respect the hell out of the gesture. Do you have a preference?

In addition to global youth day, Saturday I also saw folks from Hands on DC working in and around the home of the Clerks, Cardozo High School. Pictured above some folks from Deloitte were volunteering on a peace garden. Deloitte has a contingent of 45 volunteers who call themselves “the labor party” although one member emphasized that it was a literal designation not a political one. Well, whatever is it was really amazing to see so many people working together on such a great cause. Other volunteers cleaned the perimeter, painted inside and did some mulching among other tasks. In addition to Cardozo, Hands on DC provided approximately 2000 volunteers working in 26 other public DC schools. Right on. My faith in humanity has been restored for a couple of weeks. Check out some more photos of their good work after the jump. (more…)

While I like the door, I really dig the planters. Although they are a bit urn like aren’t they? No, I still dig ’em.

One day someone in a rowhouse like this will invite me in and I’ll get some sick living room photos. One day. Mark my words…

Once again for the expats. This thing flying up. It is going to totally change the feel of that intersection, for the better I believe. So does anyone have an opinion if they will remain condos or go rental?
