I love the contrast of the modern day fellow reading the newspaper versus the proper old school folks to the right.

Sah – Weet.

I first wrote about this back in June but it seems there are still some finishing touches going on. It’s also cool to note the mosaic on the border of the mural. I’ve been getting many, many emails about this mural so just wanted to show an update. Of course, I’ll post the finished project as soon as it’s completed. Thanks for all the emails and continue to let me know about other murals or other interesting sites around town.

Redeem the clothing store at 1734 14th Street will be celebrating its two year anniversary with “a little nosh” as well as artwork by local artist Johanna Mueller (pictured above). The celebration will take place Sunday October, 19 from 1:30 – 3:30. Should be pretty cool.
Congrats to Redeem on their anniversary!

The flier for this home at 4120 13th Street, NW says:
“Northern Columbia Heights Gem! Porchfront Home, renovated w/ lots of original detail. 3 bedrooms up, one with sitting room, 2.5 ba, Living Room, Dining Room, Designer Kitchen, Granite Counters, Maple Cabinets, Powder Room, Back Porch, OSP, CAC, Finished Basement, Lots of Light, windows and more. Come see this great Home in Great Neighborhood!”
More info and photos found here.
I’m not sure if I’d consider this Columbia Heights but the renovation does seem nice.
It was originally priced at $550,000 but is now listed at $539,000. So does this seem like a reasonable price or not? If not, what price do you think would be reasonable?
Many moons ago, PoP spotted Ramona’s Day Spa, at 3101 Mount Pleasant Street. I have been interested in checking it out for a while, but outside of the occasional manicure or pedicure I don’t really take too many trips to the Spa. So, my stint here at PoP provided the perfect opportunity to visit this neighborhood establishment.
I have to be honest here, that my experience attempting to get myself an appointment at Ramona’s may have been enough to deter me if I weren’t visiting with the intent of a review. I stopped in on a Weekday afternoon to see if they accepted walk-ins. The woman said that day was no good, and I should try again on Saturday. This was all fine and good, as a lot of places don’t take walk-in appointments and Ramona’s is pretty small. So I came back on Saturday, and this time I actually met Ramona herself. Story continues after the jump. (more…)

Can someone please explain to me how the price of gas has dropped so significantly? I can’t believe it’s just because people are driving less. So, why when gas prices were skyrocketing was it so difficult to control? I just don’t get it.
Sounds cool, wish it wasn’t right in the middle of the work day… From the Petworth Listserv:
