The flier for this home located at 1347 V Street, NW says:

“To be built and delivered by December. Soaring 13 foot ceilings on both levels, bay front windows, gleaming wide plank maple hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, custom cabinets, recessed lighting, luxurious bathrooms, private deck and outdoor space, and secure parking. So close to all the new retail coming on 14th and V. Pictures are of model unit 1321 V Street.”

More info and photos from a similar unit found here.

I thought the house looked bigger than a two bedroom one and a half bath, yeah?  I guess the bedrooms will be pretty large.  I was curious about this house because it is a total gut renovation.  Obviously the location is great but do you think it’ll sell for the asking price of $725,000?

Last month I asked where was a good spot to get a crepe in the city? A friend of mine has recently been very supportive of L’Enfant located at 18th and Vernon. I still haven’t had a chance to check it out yet but it seems like it has a great outdoor eating area. So aside from the crepes, how’s the food, vibe etc.?

In the five and a half years I’ve lived in my house I’ve probably had over 50 illegal dumpings in the alley behind my house. I have to give credit to the city who has been very good about cleaning it up but this is super aggravating. I often dream about catching the people in the act. I should really set up a video camera, yeah? But I’m wondering is it just my alley or do other folks experience this nuisance?

I know I’m a little late to this one but I’m super curious to know your opinions. City Paper/City Desk broke the news on Friday:

“Sources close to the deal say that the earlier agreement to lease the space from the current owner fell through. Rather than let their dream die, Diner/Tryst/Open City owner Constantine Stavropoulos and DC-Improv and Riot Act comedy impresario John Xereas, along with a few others—including (Dave) Chappelle, a Xereas acquaintance who has D.C. roots—worked to get a deal together to buy the building. The bid is in the neighborhood of $9 million. The problem? They’re not the only ones interested.

Big-box furniture outfit Room & Board, based in Minneapolis, has also put in a bid for the building, according to a real estate source. Although the bid is said to be close to what the locals have offered to pay, the current owners put their trust in furniture. The Room & Board bid has been accepted, the source said, albeit with a 60-day window where it can be retracted.”

I was super psyched for a Tryst type spot to go in there but I’m not that familiar with Room & Board. So which would you rather see go into the spot? If the Room & Board does end up going in do you think it will be able to thrive in that location?

I may be very easily entertained but the randomness of this really made me chuckle.

“What up with the Wine bar/community center on 11th street? Thought it was supposed to by open the end of this month. Drove past it the other night and the it looks kinda derelict.”

Last I heard they were finalizing the permitting process. I don’t think they were ever supposed to open at the end of the month. I think a more realistic opening will be in December/January. At Columbia Heights Day I did pick up a card that says:

“Room 11 Wine and Dessert Bar featuring wine by the glass and bottle; beer and hand crafted cocktails; specialty coffee and tea; pastries b PAISLEY FIG; cheeses and cured meats; soups, salads, sandwiches; and small plates. For more information email [email protected]

It sounds like it is going to be well worth the wait!

Autumn is a pretty good season for these scenes. Anyone recognize the block? The building to the left should tip you off…
