Congrats to Dave with:

“The demise of the ghost bikes was followed by the rise of the zombie bikes.”

Winners get a PoP t-shirt but the new batch won’t be ready ’till Nov.

This one from Som Records is brilliant. I think I may have mentioned this before but when I went to Oktoberfest in Munich, the most popular song by far was, oddly, Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver.

I’m actually a pretty big fan of the windows. I’m not sure if you can tell but they have an unusual circular pattern that I haven’t seen before.

And we’ve come full circle back to Cleveland Park for this beauty.

I’ve been meaning to post about Chapters A Literary Bookstore for a while but I couldn’t seem to find it. It was located at 445 11th St., NW. I just thought I kept walking down the wrong street. Sadly the location has closed. However, their Web site says:

“CHAPTERS is currently in storage, but we now have a Letter of Intent from the landlord of 601 Penn. Ave. NW (on Indiana Ave., between 7th & 6th) in the dynamic Penn Quarter area of downtown D.C., and 90 days to raise the funds to undertake the lease. With your help, we will again be part of the downtown renaissance, and of its cultural and community life. Please see the home page: WHY & HOW TO MAKE A DONATION. Thank you!”

I think that 90 days has passed. Has anyone noticed any movement at 601 Pennsylvania Ave? Anyone remember how great this store was?

As a reader wrote me, “not breaking news but… but pretty interesting story coming out of CM Graham’s office today. His chief of staff arrested on bribery charges.” I was on a walkabout and just returned to tons of emails about this. It is crazy! Thanks to all who sent emails. My question is – do you think this is going to hurt CM Graham’s political career?

Here’s the Washington Post’s take:

The District Rhyme – Teaser 1 from Dave Adams on Vimeo.

Every now and then I need to hear something great like this so I don’t lose my mind. I hope this makes you as happy as it made me. I’ll post updates on the film as it becomes available. From an email:

“I met the people over at Words Beats and Life (wblinc.org) a couple years ago, and did some video work for them, but had always wanted to feature their work in a feature doc about using Hip-Hop to supplement the Education of DC youth.  There are a number of artists in the area who are also school teachers such as Bomani and Asheru (who are both featured in the teaser).  Much of the work is being done in the Columbia Heights area.  One of the WBL campuses is housed at St. Stephens church on Newton, Asheru does a lot stuff over at Bloom on Kenyon, etc.

Long story short, we just want people to be aware of what we are doing so they can follow progress on the website (thedistrictrhyme.com).”

This condo is located at 3155 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW:

The flier says:

“Lovely renovated studio at The Mount Pleasant with 14′ vaulted ceilings & stunning sunset & National Cathedral views. Charming LR with fixed stairs to sleeping LOFT, granite kitchen w/ breakfast bar, large renovated bath, loads of closets, exposed brick walls, wood floors, W/ D combo in unit, low fee (includes WiFi), pets welcome!”

More info and photos found here.

Well this is a bit of a contrast from yesterday’s house porn but I think this is one cool looking studio. In this case I think the Loft makes a big difference as you can put your bed up there. And as I’ve said before, I dig the exposed brick. What do you guys think? Does $209,000 sound reasonable?
